About this race
The Alaska Kid's Splash n' Dash Race Series is a summer SwimRun event for children held at Service High School in Alaska. It occurs on three Tuesday evenings, spaced two weeks apart. The series was established to increase youth participation in triathlon within Alaska and to promote active living. The races are open to participants aged 19 and under, offering divisions for both novice and experienced athletes.
The Splash n Dash begins with a swim in the Service High School Pool, followed by a run on the school's sidewalks. Sea Otter participants swim 50 meters and run 0.5 miles; Puffin participants swim 300 yards and run 1.0 mile. Life jackets are permitted, and parents may assist in counting Puffin swim laps. A distinct Kid's Dash utilizes the same run course for children interested solely in running. All finishers receive medals, refreshments, and event merchandise, with overall series awards and a root beer gathering following the races.
