Awaken 5k / 1 mile walk

The Awaken 5K / 1 Mile Walk begins and ends at Awaken Church on Flamingo Road in Port Charlotte, Florida. This event features a timed 5K run or walk, alongside a shorter 1-mile fun run/walk. The morning schedule includes early check-in, with the 5K starting at 8:00 am, followed by walkers. Awards are presented after the last finisher crosses the line. The 5K entry includes a chipped bib, shirt, and finisher medal. Registration fees are considered donations to Awaken Outreach. The course consists of flat, clearly marked county streets, making it suitable for walkers, novice 5K participants, and runners seeking a fast time without inclines. Awards are given to the top three finishers in 5-year age groups, with separate overall categories for Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters, and Veterans. A trophy is also awarded to the church that registers the most participants. Now in its second year, the event includes food, snacks, raffles, and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit Awaken Outreach programs, including the weekly food pantry, Community Days, Days of Hope, holiday assistance, and disaster relief.
