About this race
The B2VT / VT Monster Training Rides begin in Lexington, Massachusetts, sending cyclists toward Vermont in June. The road version is a one-day endurance ride from the Boston area to Windsor, Vermont, offering 149-mile, 106-mile, and 60-mile options. The broader event listing also includes shorter training distances from approximately 48 km to 153 km. The long B2VT ride concludes at Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, providing a distinct destination rather than a simple loop.
The VT Monster is the more challenging gravel event, featuring three named courses: The Nano, The Sentinel, and The Titan. Each course incorporates some pavement, but the Sentinel and Titan are over 70 percent gravel, and the Nano is more than 65 percent gravel or trail. Riders must navigate using a GPS cycling computer or pre-downloaded phone maps due to limited course markings and poor or absent cell service. The organizers suggest 700c tires at least 38 mm wide for the Class IV sections. Support vehicles are available primarily for minor mechanical and tire issues. B2VT founder Skip Thomas and endurance athlete Karen Smyers have discussed both the road ride and the VT Monster gravel ride on the New England Endurance Podcast, aligning with an audience seeking a demanding regional endurance day over a structured closed-road race.
