About this race

The Bakersfield Marathon is an annual race series in Bakersfield, California, finishing at the historic Kern County Museum. It includes a Boston-qualifying marathon and shorter race options: a half marathon, 10K, 5K or 6K, virtual run or walk, kids’ 1K, and Diaper Dash. The event draws local runners and participants from across the United States and other countries. The marathon course is point to point through historic Bakersfield neighborhoods and is USATF certified. The course is open to walkers, with a 16-minute-per-mile cutoff for the full marathon. Support includes 15 water and aid stations, three gel stations on the full marathon course, and one on the half marathon course. Race features include a Health and Wellness Expo, custom finisher medals, runner shirts, breakfast, a post-race festival, and a discounted 6K entry for children 9 and under.
