About this race
The Bangor Marathon running festival begins in downtown Bangor, Maine, at Main Street and Dutton Street, offering participants four race options: a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, or 5K. Taking place in June, the event accommodates both competitive runners and those seeking a supported finish, with no time restrictions on the course. The marathon and half marathon are USATF sanctioned and Boston certified, providing an officially measured course for runners aiming for qualifying standards.
The full marathon route proceeds from Bangor along Valley Avenue to Broadway, with a turnaround in Kenduskeag, concluding at Bangor Waterfront Park. The half marathon follows the same path before turning back on outer Broadway just past Pushaw Road. Organizers characterize the course as fast and flat, continuing the local running tradition established by The Great Bangor Marathon & Half. Maine Endurance Sports Alliance, a nonprofit also involved with races in Augusta, Waterville, and Lincoln, manages the event, relying on volunteers for aid stations, check-in, and the finish area. Their festivals also feature local food vendors, live music, sponsor displays, and gathering spots for participants and spectators.
