About this race
The Berkeley Half Marathon begins and ends at Kittredge Street and Milvia Street in downtown Berkeley, California. The main race is a USATF-certified 13.1-mile loop, with 10K, 5K, and Family 1K options available on the same race weekend in November. It attracts thousands of runners, leading to street closures and impacts on pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic throughout the city.
The half marathon course offers participants a condensed tour of Berkeley, proceeding up Telegraph Avenue, through the UC Berkeley campus, into residential areas, beneath tree-lined sections, and along the waterfront before heading back to the finish. The participants include half marathoners, participants in shorter races, families, and returning runners; those who participate for three or more consecutive years earn Loyal Runner benefits. The event also supports local charity fundraising, and runners can opt for the SF/Berkeley Challenge by completing it with the San Francisco Marathon for additional race merchandise.
