About this race
The Big Dog Heatwave 5 Miler is a 5-mile summer race held in Columbus, Georgia. It begins at 8:00 AM at Lake Oliver Marina on River Road and concludes at Big Dog Uptown on 11th Street. This is a point-to-point course, meaning participants will not return to their starting point. Organizers suggest parking near the finish line with a friend and sharing a car to reach the start.
Transportation between the start and finish is not provided, and race-day registration is unavailable. Therefore, careful planning of logistics is advised. The race is included in the CRR Summer Series; participants already registered for the series are automatically entered. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall finishers, the first Masters runner, and the male and female winners in age groups ranging from under-14 to 70. Lifebridge Child Advocacy is the designated beneficiary.
