Black-eyed Pea 2025 Fun Run & 5K sponsored by UT Health East Texas 2026

The Black-Eyed Pea Fun Run & 5K is a timed 5K and short family run held at the Cain Center in Athens, Texas. It is sponsored by UT Health East Texas and is part of the Black-Eyed Pea Jamboree, an Athens community event with a long history. The 5K utilizes chip timing, and the Family Fun Run offers a shorter option of just over a mile for those not running the 5K and for children. The 5K course begins at the Cain Center, utilizing the grounds, the running track, and Robbins Road. The family route circles Cain Park. Participants receive an event shirt and a swag bag. Medals are awarded to the top male and female finishers in each age division. Adult 5K registration is $25 prior to the late registration period. Children 12 and under may enter for free, and the Fun Run costs $15 per participant.
