About this race
The Broome County Parks 5K Series is a four-race summer event in Broome County, New York. Each race begins at 6:30 p.m. on a Thursday evening, running from July through August. The series visits Greenwood Park, Dorchester Park, Nathaniel Cole Park, and Otsiningo Park. This is the fifth year for the series, designed for a wide range of participants; runners and walkers of all skill levels can register for the entire series or for individual races.
The courses are straightforward park 5Ks, with varied surfaces each week. Otsiningo Park and Dorchester Park feature paved paths, while Greenwood Park and Nathaniel Cole Park offer dirt trails. The routes are marked, but mile markers and chip timing are absent, positioning this as a relaxed local series rather than a precisely managed race event. Registering for the full series includes a T-shirt and medal. All participants receive a giveaway prize, and a portion of the proceeds benefits CHOW-Broome County Council of Churches. Packets can be picked up at the race location before the start, and single-race entries are available at the registration table on race day with cash payment.
