About this race
The Buck Fifty is a 150-mile relay held in Chillicothe, Ohio. Teams begin on Friday afternoon, departing in waves every thirty minutes into the evening. It is designed for team running, accommodating up to 150 ten-person teams and 20 five-person teams. The format offers runners an extended overnight relay across southern Ohio, with each team responsible for its own handoffs, pacing, travel, and rest periods between legs.
The course consists of 60% country roads, 15% trail, and 25% in-town running. Teams transition from rural roads and parkland into historic Chillicothe, rather than remaining on a single surface type. It passes through four state and national parks, adding variety beyond a typical road relay. The Buck Fifty was established to address the local drug problem, with all race profits supporting teen drug prevention via eight local high school chapters of the Drug Free Clubs of America program. The team cap is deliberate, ensuring the field remains large yet controllable.
