About this race
The Caveman Challenge is a trail race held at Waterloo Lake Park in Denison, Texas, offering distances from 5K to 50K. Taking place in October, the event begins with the longer races. The 50K, marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a 1.5-mile shore walk/run all start in quick succession on race morning. This is the event's second year, and registration provides a shirt and medal.
The course features loops with dirt, rocks, roots, and a cave, ensuring a genuine trail experience even for shorter distances. The 5K and 10K each complete one loop, while the half marathon, marathon, and 50K run the 5K loop multiple times in varying configurations. Participants will encounter two aid stations: one at the start/finish pavilion and another approximately four miles into the loop. This second station offers water, electrolyte drink, fruit, and both sweet and salty snacks.
