About this race
The Champlain Islands Marathon & Half Marathon begins at 8:30 AM in front of historic Folsom Elementary School in South Hero, Vermont, with both races concluding near the same location. Participants select either the half marathon or the full marathon, with both courses originating and terminating close to the former residence of Clarence H. DeMar, a seven-time Boston Marathon champion.
The half marathon follows an out-and-back route along the west shore of South Hero and Grand Isle, featuring paved roads, flat-to-rolling terrain, farms, apple orchards, and summer cottages. The marathon covers the half-marathon route twice. The course is USATF certified, with aid stations approximately every two miles from mile 2 through mile 24, and the event is open to runners aged 16 and older.
