About this race
CircumVictory is a fall trail race at Victory Hill Trail Club in Victory, Vermont, built around the core singletrack from the old CircumBurke. Mountain bikers and runners can enter, with a mostly singletrack loop of about 16 to 17 miles; the XCM race uses two laps, while the Challenge uses one. The organizers describe it as hard, fun riding rather than a smooth fitness-path event, and their equipment notes make that clear: long-travel XC or trail bikes are recommended, hardtails are rough, and gravel or cyclocross bikes are not a fit.
The race is run by the non-commercial trail club that maintains the Victory Hill trails, and entry money goes back into trail work. It draws a mix of local riders, runners, serious racers, and recreational entrants; one recent field had more than 170 participants, including an Olympic mountain bike medalist and a Tour de France veteran. Riders pass near the start and finish several times, so spectators get more than one chance to see the race. The day stays low-tech and local, with hand-timed results, one aid station, finisher beer glasses, prizes for the top XCM racers, Strava awards for the fastest descenders, a participant raffle, tacos for sale afterward, and free camping before and after the event.
