About
The Club South Runners Freedom Mile is a morning race series in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, structured around separate one-mile races instead of a single large field. The mile begins near the Queen Casino and concludes by the Old State Capitol, offering participants a straightforward point-to-point downtown course. A shuttle service is provided from the finish back to the start. The racing is divided into Masters and Grandmasters, youth runners, open women, and open men, with a parent-child half-mile fun run following the main mile events.
The half-mile event differs from the mile: it is an out-and-back run, entry is free, and each child gets a finisher certificate. Awards are presented to the top overall, Masters, and Grandmasters men and women, along with the top three in age groups from under 15 to 70 and older. The youth category has its own certificate structure for ages 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14, positioning the event as suitable for families and competitive local runners alike.
