About this race
The Colonel Cross Country 3200m is a community race held at Nicholls Farm in Thibodaux, Louisiana, as part of the Nicholls XC Invitational. Beginning early in the morning, it offers road or trail runners a brief 3,200-meter off-road competition. Nicholls students can participate without charge via the campus SPA partnership. A free 1K kids run for those 12 and under is also part of the event.
The course consists of low-mowed grass and some dirt road sections, providing a genuine cross-country feel without the demands of a long trail run. Nicholls Track & Field athletes are stationed at key turns, and participants receive refreshments after the race, prior to the university and high school competitions. Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, top masters competitors, and the leading Nicholls male, female, and nonbinary students. Age-group medals are provided if the participant count exceeds 50.
