About this race
The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is a workplace running series featuring 3.5-mile road races, slightly longer than a standard 5K. JPMorgan Chase owns and operates the races, with teams entering through their companies or organizations. The series runs annually, catering to office teams of all paces, from fast runners to joggers and walkers. It began in New York City with 200 runners from 50 companies and now extends to 13 race cities across seven countries and five continents.
The concept is straightforward: co-workers compete together over the same short road distance, often congregating in company hospitality areas before or after the run. The JPMorgan Chase Foundation also contributes to local charities in recognition of participants. The series includes a championship, first held in 1983, bringing together top men's, women's, and mixed teams from each city. Its name evolved with the bank's, shifting from Manufacturers Hanover to Chemical Bank, Chase, JPMorgan Chase, and the current J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge name since 2011.
