Disability Awareness 2026

The Disability Awareness Walk, Run, Roll is a 2 km and 5 km event in Evanston, Illinois, beginning at the Over The Rainbow area near Brown Avenue or Bridget Avenue. The format accommodates participants who walk, run, or roll, designed for various modes of movement rather than solely for those focused on finishing times. This event benefits Disability Awareness Month and is connected with Over The Rainbow, an organization that assists residents with disabilities. The course follows the North Shore Channel Trail, McCormick Boulevard, and the canal, offering participants a local Evanston route alongside the waterway. The event commemorates Val Nora, a former resident of Over The Rainbow, and funds raised will support Over The Rainbow's resident services. Following the race, attendees are invited to OTR Fest, featuring food trucks, music, and refreshments.
