About this race
The Elk-Kings Trail Races are fall trail races in Oregon's Tillamook Forest, set on rough single-track, rainforest, and along the Wilson River. The series includes a steep, technical 25K, a 50K covering the length of the Wilson River Trail, and an 11-mile point-to-point race on the same trail system. This is an old-school Tillamook Forest event, not a polished road race: the terrain is rocky, the forest is wet and lush, and the climbing is a significant challenge.
The 25K ascends to the summits of Elk and Kings mountains, lending the race its name and its most demanding sections. The longer race follows the Wilson River Trail past giant ferns, tall trees, and narrow riverside single-track, while the 11-mile option provides a shorter point-to-point version of that forest route. Elk-Kings was the first trail race series in the area, established over a decade ago, and it was revived after a brief hiatus due to persistent runner demand.
