About this race
The Flagstaff Marathon takes place at Arizona Nordic Village, north of Flagstaff within the Coconino National Forest. Participants can select a marathon, half marathon, 10K, or Kids Kilo. All races are run on singletrack and doubletrack trails through ponderosa pine and aspen forest at approximately 8,000 feet elevation. The event is known as “The Coolest Marathon in Arizona” and typically sells out, so early registration is advised.
The marathon course covers the half-marathon route twice, incorporating the altitude and trail conditions throughout. Marathon runners face a cutoff at mile 19, requiring them to reach that aid station by early afternoon to proceed. The Coconino Community College Foundation and Sundog Running host the event, with proceeds benefiting CCC Athletics, particularly the men’s and women’s cross country teams. Race results have been archived since 2006, indicating a long-standing local presence.
