About this race
GiGi's 5K, also known as the Dash for Down Syndrome, is a June 5K series connected to GiGi's Playhouse, with events held in locations like Lakewood, Ohio, near Cleveland, and Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The Cleveland race uses Kauffman Park on Detroit Avenue as its start/finish area and is designed for more than just runners: walkers, stroller-pushers, wheelchair users, families, and sideline supporters are all included in the participants.
The Cleveland Dash attracts over 1,000 individuals, families, businesses, and community members from Northeast Ohio. Registration is free for individuals with Down syndrome, while adult, child, and virtual walker entries help fund GiGi's Playhouse programs, which assist people with Down syndrome from diagnosis to adulthood. The event also relies on teams and fundraising goals, making the morning as much a community fundraiser and advocacy event as it is a 5K.
