About this race
The Go Fourth One Mile Run/Walk is a one-mile run or walk in Longview, Washington, held on Independence Day morning before the Go 4th Festival parade. It begins in front of the historic Monticello Hotel and follows the same route that parade crowds are already waiting to watch, so participants receive cheers from hundreds of people along the way. The event is hosted by Cowlitz Valley Runners in partnership with HEVIN, Helping Every Veteran In Need, and it is designed as a low-cost family event rather than a long-distance race.
The course runs from the Monticello Hotel toward Lake Sacajawea Park and finishes near Martin's Dock. Fast runners can race it hard, walkers are fully part of the event, and awards go to the top male and female finishers, second and third places, and the first male and female finishers over 50. Door prizes add a relaxed community feel, and walkers can win those too. Proceeds support scholarships for high school seniors pursuing higher education, and participants can also donate to HEVIN during registration.
