About this race
The Greg Shank Memorial 5K Run/Walk is a 5-kilometer road race in Williamsport, Maryland. It is based at American Legion Post 202 on American Legion Avenue, starting in the morning at the Pavilion. Race-day registration opens earlier, and the event welcomes both runners and walkers. This race honors Greg Shank, who is remembered locally as a source of hope and inspiration. Proceeds benefit the Greg Shank Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The race is included in the community's Independence Day events and is known locally as the area's fastest holiday 5K road race. Those who pre-register will receive an event shirt. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall, and the top two men and women in age groups ranging from 12-and-under to 70-and-over. Participants must be present to claim shirts and awards. The race proceeds regardless of weather conditions.
