About this race
Little Rock finishers receive notably large medals, which organizers state grow slightly larger annually. The Little Rock Marathon weekend takes place in Little Rock, Arkansas, during the first weekend of March. It offers marathon and half-marathon races, alongside a complimentary year-round training program for participants training for the race or general fitness. Established in 2003, the event attracts runners and walkers from all U.S. states and over 15 countries, with proceeds benefiting Little Rock Parks & Recreation. A key aspect is its accommodating pace policy, featuring an 8-hour limit for the marathon and a 4-hour limit for the half-marathon.
The marathon course begins and ends in Downtown Little Rock, crossing the Arkansas River and passing landmarks like the Arkansas State Capitol, River Market District, Clinton Presidential Center, Governor's Mansion, MacArthur Birthplace/Military Museum, and Historic Little Rock Central High School. This certified single-loop course is a Boston Marathon qualifier, though not entirely flat, with its highest point at 519 feet and the most significant ascent occurring early on. The marathon adopts a different theme each year, reflected in course sections, post-race activities, merchandise, medals, and runner costumes. Unique stops, such as the couch potato mile and Lipstick Stop, contribute a sense of humor aligning with its "Race for Every Pace" slogan.
