Haunted Hustle 5k & Monster Mile

The Haunted Hustle 5k and Monster Mile start and end at Abshire Park in Goshen, Indiana. Each race distance has a Halloween-themed name: the Frightening 5K, Terrible 10K, Haunted Half Marathon, and Monster Mash Mile. The Monster Mash Mile is a walk, not a timed event. All registered runners receive a finisher medal with the race distance on the lanyard. Long sleeve shirts are available as an optional purchase. The event benefits the Elkhart County Down Syndrome Support Group, a local organization assisting approximately 70 families with children who have special needs. Proceeds from the race help fund therapeutic riding scholarships and group activities. The courses utilize the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail, with out-and-back routes beginning and ending at Abshire Park. The trail is traffic-free for the majority of the race, and police manage the few road crossings. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K, 10K, and half marathon, along with winners in standard age groups. The Monster Mile is more relaxed, without age-group awards. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for categories like best homemade, children’s, superhero, and most creative. Well-behaved, trained, and vaccinated dogs are welcome if registered at packet pickup, where they will receive a bandana.
