About this race
The Horton Trail Race is a night run at the Shelby Farms Cross Country Course in Memphis, with a 2K Fun Run and a 5K trail race run under the lights. It is open to the public, uses fully unpaved trails, and keeps the focus on participation rather than prize money.
The race honors Frank Horton, who founded the Memphis Marathon, the race that later grew into the St. Jude Marathon. It dates back to 1999 and sits inside a weekend of running events supporting Memphis Youth Athletics, with food trucks adding a casual family-and-friends feel around the racing.
