About this race

The Hyannis 1 Triathlon begins and ends at Craigville Beach on Cape Cod. Competitors enter Nantucket Sound from a long-standing New England triathlon location. This event is New England’s longest-running triathlon and one of the oldest triathlons globally, with over forty years of history. The event provides sprint and Olympic-distance choices, along with related formats such as aquabike, aquathon, and duathlon. This attracts both experienced racers and newer triathletes who have prepared for the distance. The sprint race starts with a quarter-mile rectangular swim, beginning with a modified time-trial start. The sheltered water may be calm or rough, but it is not an ocean-surf swim. The 10.2-mile bike course is a single loop passing through Centerville, Osterville, and Wianno, returning via a road alongside the beach without repeating any road sections. The 3.6-mile run proceeds toward Hyannisport. It begins on flat terrain, ascends gradually, has rolling sections through the middle miles, and concludes with a less demanding final mile back towards Craigville Beach.
