About this race
PineappleMan begins at the Melbourne Beach Pier, with the National Anthem preceding a 7:00 AM start. The series is based at Ryckman Park in Melbourne Beach, Florida, offering a sprint triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, relay options, novice divisions, adaptive racing, and specialty categories. Established in 1985, the Rotary Pineapple Man Triathlon is Florida's oldest USAT-sanctioned triathlon.
The triathlon commences with a quarter-mile swim around the pier in the Indian River Lagoon, followed by a 12-mile out-and-back bike course featuring a four-mile straight section along A1A adjacent to ocean-side parks and wildlife preserves. The run is a 5K loop through residential streets; duathletes begin with a two-mile neighborhood run before proceeding on the same 12-mile bike route and 5K finish run. Race morning follows a precise schedule: transition opens before sunrise, body marking occurs between the Historic Ryckman House and the transition area, and packet pickup concludes early enough to prevent late arrivals from missing the start. Post-race activities include breakfast, prizes, giveaways, finisher medals, and awards extending to age groups, novice racers, Clydesdale and Athena divisions, military and public-safety categories, relay teams, fat-tire riders, and physically challenged athletes.
