About this race
The Irving Oktoberfest Half Marathon begins and ends at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area near DFW Airport. This yearly fall running event features a 13.1-mile half marathon, alongside 10K and 5K races for those preferring shorter distances. The event combines a city race format with an Oktoberfest festival, and registration grants entry to the post-race party with live entertainment. It also benefits the Irving Schools Foundation, connecting the event to local schools beyond just race outcomes.
The course is USATF-certified and chip-timed, with organizers as fast and flat, incorporating streets in downtown Las Colinas. Participants receive professional race photos, a performance shirt, a custom bib, a finisher medal, live tracking, course maps, and GPS progress alerts. Competitive runners can vie for age-group awards or cash prizes, and teams can participate in the Team Challenge. The Irving Marathon project was initiated by Lazaro Alvarez and Ronnie Chesko, with Alvarez and Jaclyn Livingston later establishing the Irving Marathon Running Series to offer more local racing opportunities.
