About this race
Jasper Mountain Trail Fest starts and finishes at Jasper Mountain Reserve near Dayton in Eastern Washington, on land managed by an environmental nonprofit. This USA Track & Field-sanctioned event focuses on single-track running, offering four distances: a 52.4-mile relay for four runners, a half marathon, a full marathon, and a 4.4-mile family run. The solo races are not flat; the half marathon gains 2,570 feet, and the marathon gains 5,140 feet. Most participants begin in the early morning, with the family run starting soon after. All races have a late-evening cutoff.
The course consists of three named loops within the reserve: Red (3.3 miles), Green (4.4 miles), and Black (5.4 miles). For the relay, four teammates share a single bib, with each runner completing the Red, Green, Black, and then Red loops again to conclude the team effort. The setting feels more isolated than a town race: camping is available on the reserve, but the site is off the grid, lacking water or electricity. Participants must pack out their trash. Dayton, offering hotels and rentals, is about 11 miles away. The race weekend includes evening bib pickup, an informal reception, and a presentation prior to race morning.
