About this race
The Logan Peak Trail Run is a trail marathon in Logan, Utah, beginning at Hyrum Gibbons Mt. Logan Park near the foothills of Logan Dry Canyon. Runners start at 6 a.m., appropriate for the day's demands: over 6,000 feet of climbing and over 6,000 feet of descent on a mountain course where hiking is necessary. This is not a Boston Qualifier, a fact the race states clearly; the focus is rocky trail, steep grades, and a long ascent into the mountains above Cache Valley. The quickest runners typically finish in about four hours, with the official cutoff allowing up to nine hours.
The course begins with roughly a mile of pavement before transitioning to singletrack in Logan Dry Canyon, reaching the first aid station at 4.5 miles. From there, it proceeds southwest on South Syncline, passing through aspen groves and pine forest, with level sections interspersed with climbs, descents, and uneven terrain. Runners see views toward Logan and Providence before the route encircles the mountain and ascends again, with Logan Peak serving as the day's highest point. Cody and Bethany Draper now direct the event, and past results are available on Ultrasignup, suitable for a race intended for trail runners seeking a challenging mountain marathon over a road-style time trial.
