About this race
Long Hunter Trail Runs is an October trail race series at Long Hunter State Park, near Nashville, Tennessee. Runners can choose a 50K, marathon, or half marathon. All distances start and finish in a field near Hobson Pike in Hermitage. The races utilize the trail network around Couchville Lake, featuring natural trail, paved greenway, short road connectors, and enough flat ground that road shoes can work if the weather has been dry.
All three courses circle Couchville Lake, go out and back on Bryant Grove Trail, and include the cliff trail loop. The half marathon adds the Inland Trail, while the marathon and 50K continue onto Jones Mill Trail. Listed climbing is modest for trail racing, from about 450 feet in the half to 1,100 feet in the 50K. Emily and Scott, local runners who live close to the park, host the series and built it around trails they use often. Finishers receive handmade clay arrowheads from Domestic Craft Art, with each one unique. Crew help is controlled: runners can only receive assistance at the Couchville and Bryant Grove aid stations, with 50K runners allowed a drop bag at Bryant Grove.
