About this race
Machete Muertos 200 is a loop-based ultramarathon at Lake Perris in Perris, California, offering races from 10 miles up to 200 miles. It is part of the Machete Trail Madness Día de los Muertos event, providing runners with options for a 200-miler, 100-miler, 50-miler, 20-mile race, 20-mile ruck division, and 10-miler. The course design is suited for a long ultra, with each lap returning runners to a central campground and transition area, featuring aid stations, pacer regulations, group camping, and cash prizes.
The longer races utilize a 20-mile loop with approximately 4,500 feet of climbing per lap, meaning the 200-mile race accumulates over 44,000 feet of elevation gain on technical terrain. The 10-mile and 50-mile races use a shorter 10-mile loop with about 2,300 feet of gain per lap. Aid is available at mile 6 on the 10/50-mile loop and at miles 8 and 13 on the longer loop. The 200-miler has a 96-hour cutoff, classifying it as a multi-day mountain-style effort rather than a straightforward lakeside run.
