Maine Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay

About this race

The Maine Community Bank Maine Marathon begins and ends on Baxter Boulevard beside Back Cove in Portland, Maine. This fall road race weekend features a full marathon, half marathon, and marathon relay, alongside virtual marathon, half marathon, 5K, and 10K options. The marathon relay spans the full marathon distance, completed by teams of two to four runners. The in-person races commence in the morning. Both the marathon and half marathon courses are USATF certified, and the marathon also serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. The course follows an out-and-back format, with rolling hills instead of a flat, straight time-trial layout. Participants will see views of the Portland skyline, long sections along Back Cove, vistas toward Casco Bay, and peak fall foliage throughout the route. The field comprises regular marathoners, half marathoners, relay teams, and quicker runners aiming for specific standards. The event provides complimentary entries for runners who achieve set half marathon or marathon times, such as 1:15 or 2:45 for men and 1:25 or 3:15 for women and non-binary runners.
