Maratón de Nueva York 2026
Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Nueva York, United States
About this race
The New York City Marathon begins on Staten Island at the base of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and concludes in Manhattan, covering the full 42.195 kilometers. Held each year on the first Sunday in November, it is the world's largest marathon, drawing over 52,000 participants. The field comprises elite professionals, wheelchair athletes, club runners, charity participants, and novice marathoners, representing approximately 140 nations.
The course guides runners through Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan, transforming the event into a tour of the five boroughs instead of a circuit within the city center. Over one million spectators line the course, and the broadcast is viewed in 170 countries and territories. The race originated in 1970 with 127 participants running laps in Central Park, later expanding to all five boroughs in 1976. More than 1.2 million individuals have completed the marathon since its inception, and entry is typically managed via lottery due to high demand.
