About this race
Michaux Gravel: 2-day Forest Ride is a free, self-supported gravel ride in Michaux Forest State Park. Both days begin at 8:00 AM from Caledonia State Park Parking Lot #2 Trailhead parking. Riders may complete one day or both. The event is structured for a weekend trip, with camping available at the park campground and nearby hotels and Airbnbs. Delaware Valley Gravel Hub organizes the ride, with registration via Strava or BikeReg.com.
Day 1 covers the 45-mile Michaux North Loop, featuring 3,718 feet of elevation gain, 83% unpaved surfaces, forest roads, gravel sections, ridge lines, six climbs, and a rest stop at Pine Grove Furnace General Store. Day 2 is the 38-mile Michaux South Loop, with 3,510 feet of climbing, 74% unpaved surfaces, seven climbs, gravel stretches, Snowy Mountain Vista, Antietam Creek, and a rest stop at Walmart approximately 1.5 miles from the course. The difficulty is rated intermediate, but the significant climbing and high unpaved percentages define it as a challenging forest gravel weekend.
