About this race
The start line is located at the Coldstream Dog Park Area on Lexington’s Legacy Trail, providing Miles for Medicine a clear local anchor within Coldstream Park in northwest Lexington. This October 5K run/walk is organized by the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. It includes a 1 Mile Fun Walk, Kid’s Dash, virtual option, and volunteer option alongside the main race. The event funds the medical student-led Salvation Army Clinic, connecting the field to UK medicine, Lexington runners, walkers, families, and individuals seeking a short community race with a direct local purpose.
The 5K route follows the Legacy Trail through Coldstream Park, noted as flat and fast. The clinic supported by the race has served Lexington residents since 1986, offering free care from physicians and medical students to residents of the Salvation Army women and children’s shelter and unhoused individuals. Race day features chip timing, performance shirts in adult and youth sizes, awards for overall finishers and five-year age groups, a DJ, complimentary race photos, food, and a prize for the largest social team.
