About this race
Milton Youth Tri is a low-pressure triathlon for ages 5 to 12, with a separate Kids Run after the final triathlon finisher. The race begins with a pool swim at Milton High School's Lieder Family Pool, then proceeds to a bike leg around Schilberg Park and a run that concludes on the track. It is designed for children who may be participating in a triathlon for the first time, not for a highly competitive field. Entry is straightforward, with the triathlon costing $20 and the Kids Run $5.
The distances vary by age: younger athletes swim 50 meters, bike 1 mile, and run .4 miles, while ages 10 to 12 swim 150 meters, bike 3 miles, and run approximately 1 mile. The course utilizes clear loops: pool laps for the swim, laps around Schilberg Park for the bike, and track loops for the run. Helmets are mandatory on the bike, and High Street closes from Hilltop to John Paul for athlete safety. All triathlon finishers receive a shirt and medal, the top three boys and girls in each age group receive awards, and event proceeds support grants that assist young people in participating in other athletic activities.
