The Monster Mash begins with a lap on Dover’s Monster Mile Speedway, then runners exit the stadium for the city. This Delaware race series takes place in October at the Dover International Speedway Hotel & Casino in Kent County, offering marathon, half marathon, 5K, and 1 Mile Walk options. It is structured as a race-day event for various distances, not solely a single marathon, and supports the Wounded Warrior Project. The marathon is 26.2 miles, the half marathon is 13.1 miles, and the course starts with a one-mile loop inside the stadium before proceeding to historic areas of Dover. All participants finish in front of Miles the Monster, the 50-foot statue at the speedway, serving as the race's most distinct landmark. The location also simplifies race morning logistics: parking is adjacent to the start and finish, stadium restrooms are accessible, and runners receive food, beer, and a finisher medal post-race.
