About this race
The Moonlight Bike Ride is an 11-mile, late-night, closed-course bicycle event in Lenexa, Kansas, organized by the City of Lenexa. Participants begin at 10 p.m. in Old Town Lenexa. The route is car-free and passes through the Meritex caves. Riders must use a bicycle with two or three wheels, equipped with a helmet, front light, and rear reflector.
The event embraces its nighttime setting. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes with lights. The Light the Night decorating contest takes place at the start line before the ride, with awards for the top three entries. Class 1 e-bikes are permitted, but throttled bikes, hoverboards, and motorized scooters are prohibited. Riders aged 17 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Registration provides a T-shirt, subject to availability, and a pancake breakfast is available post-ride.
