Morgantown Running's 4 on the 4th is a Fourth of July race held at Morgantown Running on Beechurst Avenue in Morgantown, West Virginia. The primary event is a 4-mile run or walk. A separate 1-mile kids race begins later from the same finish area. This is a local road-and-rail-trail event, not a long-distance race, making it suitable for runners, walkers, families, and competitive racers aiming for the lead.
The 4-mile course begins on the rail trail behind the Seneca Center, proceeds toward Star City, ascends toward Mon Boulevard, passes the WVU Coliseum, and returns along Beechurst Avenue for a quick final mile to the Seneca Center. The kids mile is a straightforward out-and-back on the rail trail toward Deckers Creek. Police and volunteers will be stationed along the course, and participants should stay to the right on Mon Boulevard. A $100 bonus is offered for a new course record, with existing records at 19:36 for men and 21:58 for women. The top four male and female finishers will receive prizes including shoes, sunglasses, and Morgantown Running bib pins.
