Nice Triathlon Prep Camp at Shenandoah

About this race
The Nice Triathlon Prep Camp near Harrisonburg, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Mountains offers four days of triathlon training. Swimming, cycling, and running are covered in one long weekend. This camp is for triathletes seeking coached practice, not a typical race. The camp utilizes James Madison University’s pool for stroke and speed work, Arrowhead Lake for open-water coaching, mountain roads for bike handling, and trails or gravel roads for running. Workouts are adjusted for ability and training goals. Participants must be able to swim 400 yards continuously in open water.
The schedule combines technique sessions with demanding training days. Thursday begins with pool work, a moderate group ride focusing on climbing and descending, and an optional 15x200-meter track session. Friday includes open-water skills in the pool and a brick workout starting from Harrisonburg, followed by a long run on gravel Forest Service roads, with shoes available at a midway aid station. Saturday is the main cycling day, beginning at Paul State Park, featuring a nine-mile climb averaging 5.8%, a support vehicle, and 35-mile or 75-mile route choices; the longer route ascends over 7,500 feet. Sunday moves to Arrowhead Lake for a four-hour points event. Lodging options include double or single occupancy, with daily buffet-style breakfast provided. The camp aims to rebuild multisport confidence as much as to log training miles.
