About this race
The Patapsco Valley 50K & 25K is a fall trail race held in the Avalon Area of Patapsco Valley State Park, near Baltimore, Maryland. Participants select either a single 25K loop or two loops for the 50K. The course is approximately 95% unpaved trails. The event has a participant limit of 225, making it a small trail gathering.
The course features natural-surface singletrack, rolling hills, short paved bike-trail segments, and several creek crossings that may result in muddy conditions. Runners will see Cascade Falls, the Captain John Smith historical marker, the Orange Grove Flour Mill ruins, and the Avalon Nail and Iron Works ruins, with recurring vistas of the Patapsco River valley. The race began in 2014, adheres to ATRA event standards, and maintains records for open and masters categories in the 50K.
