About this race
Pedal the Ridge is a high-altitude cross-country mountain bike race in Mammoth Lakes, California, held on Mammoth Mountain Bike Park near 9,000 feet. The race follows a 10.3-mile lap format: Pro riders complete four laps, Expert and Singlespeed riders complete three, and Sport riders complete two. Sport riders begin separately in an early mass start, while the Pro, Expert, and Singlespeed fields start later, helping to prevent different speeds from bunching up on the singletrack.
The course consists of about 90% singletrack, with short service-road sections allowing for passing. It connects rolling trail, steady climbs, descents, and a technical downhill, featuring an on-course feed zone, medical aid, and a team tech area. The participants range from pros competing for cash prizes to age-group Expert riders, Singlespeed racers, Sport riders, teams, and juniors. SEMBA, an all-volunteer nonprofit, organizes the race, with entry fees contributing to event costs and supporting local junior racers; registration also includes a swag bag, taco bar lunch, and a beer.
