About this race
Perpetual Motion is a timed running event held in Grapevine, Texas, situated on the east shore of Grapevine Lake at Mariner Point Park and Silver Lake Marina. Participants select a 6, 12, or 24-hour duration and continuously run laps on a certified 800-meter paved loop to accumulate as much distance as possible. The event includes options for approximately 80.5 km and 160.9 km distances, with the core concept being to start at Sunfish Loop near Silver Lake Marina, complete laps, and let the elapsed time determine the final outcome.
The course traces the lakeshore and reverses direction every four hours, intended to mitigate the monotony of a short loop. This setup caters to ultrarunners needing consistent access to provisions, with aid stations offering standard ultra fare during the day and hot soups, meals, and warm beverages after dark. Hammer Heed serves as the official sports drink, personal aid stations are permitted in numerous locations, camping is provided at no cost, parking is available on the loop, and trophies will be awarded.
