About this race
The Zaman Hope for Humanity Run Walk Picnic, now in its 16th year, is a 5K run, 5K walk, kids’ race day, and park picnic held at Ford Field Park in Dearborn, Michigan. The event raises funds for Zaman’s programs supporting women and children facing poverty in Southeast Michigan, having generated over $60,000 for this cause. It caters to families with a 100-meter Tots Trot for ages 2 to 4 and a 3/4-mile Kids Run for ages 5 to 12.
Both the 5K run and walk follow the Rouge River Gateway Trail, winding through wooded areas near the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the historic Henry Ford Estate. Ainsley’s Angels in Michigan ensures the 5K is accessible by pairing volunteer runners with participants with disabilities. The Let’s Move! Girls Running Program guides girls ages 8 to 11 through an eight-week training period focused on confidence, healthy habits, and teamwork, culminating at the Run Walk Picnic. Post-race activities include a picnic with burgers, falafel sandwiches, frozen treats, pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, basketball, and tug-of-war.
