About this race

The Pleasant Prairie Youth Tri is a Sunday afternoon kids' triathlon held at 9900 Terwall Terrace in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. It features separate races for younger and older athletes. Juniors, ages 6-10, compete in a 100-meter lake swim, a 4K bike ride, and a 1K run. Seniors, ages 11-14, race a 200-meter lake swim, an 8K bike ride, and a 2K run. The race age is determined by USA Triathlon rules, using each athlete's age on December 31st. All participants require a USAT youth membership. The event is structured like a professional triathlon. Transitions open before the races, a mandatory race briefing occurs at the beach, and timing chips are distributed at the swim start. The older division begins first, with the younger division starting after the senior bike leg is mostly clear. Helmets are mandatory, and riders must wait until the mount line before starting their bikes. The bike course follows standard race etiquette: stay to the right unless passing and announce "On your left!" when overtaking another rider. This format accommodates both children participating for the first time and experienced youth athletes familiar with the swim-bike-run sequence.
