About this race
The Plucked Turkey 10K is a Thanksgiving morning 10K race in Anniston, Alabama. It begins and ends at the Norwood Hodges Community Center. This 6.2-mile USATF-certified road race uses chip timing and is presented by the Anniston Runners Club and the YMCA, with proceeds benefiting the YMCA. All runners and walkers are welcome, families are encouraged, and there is no age minimum, but minors require a parent or guardian to register.
The course winds through the Golden Springs community on closed roads. Earbuds are discouraged, and bikes, skates, and pets are prohibited. Infant strollers may start from the rear. Prizes reflect the Thanksgiving theme: the top male and female finishers receive a turkey breast from The Honey Baked Ham Company, while second and third overall winners get pies. Age-group awards are presented from 9-and-under to 80-and-over. A cash bonus is offered for breaking the men's or women's course record, with the option to donate the bonus to charity. Participants are also invited to bring non-perishable food items for local food banks.
