About this race
The Race for Freedom 5K Run/Walk is a morning 5K starting at Christ the Rock Church on Hermitage Lane in Janesville, Wisconsin. This church-hosted, family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels, with a one-hour race window from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The event raises awareness and funds to combat human trafficking locally and internationally, with organizers stating all proceeds directly aid victims.
The race format is simple: participants can run or walk the 5K. Top finishers are recognized by age and gender categories. The event also features random prize drawings, T-shirts, and swag bags. The fundraising supports groups engaged in various aspects of anti-trafficking work, including border patrol stations along the Nepal-India border, survivor care, safe houses, counseling, education, legal services, outreach, and law-enforcement support. One funded border initiative employs trained women, often survivors, to identify individuals at risk of trafficking, provide counseling, and assist in their safe return home.
