Race with your Heart

Race with Your Heart begins at Eureka Upper Lake Park on Lake Road in Eureka, Illinois. The 5K and 10K races start in the morning, followed shortly by a 1.5-mile walk. This event, now in its 30th year and held in June, offers a local summer race atmosphere rather than a singular fundraising occasion. Participants can select the 5K or 10K run, walkers have a shorter option, and children aged 10 and under participate without charge. The course encircles Eureka Lake, crosses wooded nature trails, and passes through adjacent neighborhoods, providing ample tree shade for both race distances. The terrain is mostly flat, though runners will encounter a few challenging climbs near the Eureka Lake dam. The 10K route includes a section through a quiet subdivision. Proceeds benefit Woodford County Heartline and Heart House. The day maintains a family-friendly atmosphere with raffles, a children's fun event, group discounts for four-person teams, and a post-race breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, fruit cups, and beverages.
