About this race
Ragnar Trail SoCal is a team trail race held at Los Coyotes Reservation in Warner Springs, California, located approximately two hours from downtown San Diego and three hours from Los Angeles. Standard teams consist of 8 runners. Smaller team formats include 4-runner Ultra teams, 3-runner Sprint teams, and 2-runner Black Loop teams. The full team race spans 112.8 miles with 23,800 feet of elevation gain. This averages to about 14.1 miles and 2,975 feet of gain per runner in the standard format.
The course crosses rugged mountain hills, fire roads, and single-track desert trails. It offers views toward the Anza-Borrego Desert and features terrain lined with junipers, pines, and oaks. Ragnar identifies this as one of its more difficult trail races, meaning the climbing and desert conditions are integral to its appeal. Teams camp at Ragnar Village for the weekend. Off-course activities include bonfires, s'mores, campfire stories, food trucks, music, yoga, prizes, and awards for teams and finishers. Glamping sites and tent rentals are offered. Runners should be prepared for daytime temperatures in the 70s and nighttime lows that can reach the 40s or 30s. Runners completing both Ragnar Trail SoCal and Ragnar Road SoCal can receive a Double Medal.
